Sydney Thomas '13

M.A.R. Candidate, Yale Divinity School

John Jay Fellow

Prior to becoming a John Jay Fellow, Sydney attended Patrick Henry College, where she received a B.A. in Government with an emphasis on Political Theory. She also served as an editor at the Prayer Book Society of the U.S.A. and the Managing Editor of Front Porch Republic.

In reflecting on her time as a fellow, she said: β€œThe John Jay Institute made me a more disciplined person with its regular hours and with its focus on regular Morning and Evening Prayer from the 1928 Book of Common Prayer. As a John Jay Fellow, I made lifelong friends and was confirmed and strengthened in my calling to teach.”

After her time at the John Jay Institute, Sydney was granted a Wilbur Fellowship at The Russell Kirk Center for Cultural Renewal.  She has been admitted to Yale Divinity School for a Master of Arts in Religion with a concentration in Liturgical Studies and awarded a full scholarship. After completing her M.A.R. at Yale Divinity School, Sydney hopes to finish a Ph.D. in philosophy or theology and to become a university professor.
