Genevieve McNalis

Spring 2019 John Jay Fellow

Hometown: Boca Raton, FL
College: Ave Maria University
Degree: B.S. Biology

Genevieve McNalis was born and raised in Boca Raton, Florida. She attended Ave Maria University and graduated cum laude in May 2017 with a B.S. in Biology and a minor in Shakespeare in Performance.

As evidenced by her major and minor, Genevieve liked the well-rounded education that came from attending a liberal arts college while majoring in a science. The combination of courses allowed her to explore certain topics, such as evolution from multiple perspectives, studying it in scientific, philosophical, and theological classes. During her time in college, Genevieve participated in two Shakespeare plays and spent three years as a lead organizer for an annual women’s conference, Genuine Feminine, which engaged various speakers from around the country. She also volunteered her time to help children with math and reading in local impoverished communities through her school’s Mother Teresa Program.

Through her studies and summer internship at a law firm, Genevieve decided to pursue a law degree and will be attending the University of Florida Law School in Fall of 2019. She is excited to be a John Jay Fellow and immerse herself in philosophical, political, and theological discussions.
