Degree: B.A. in Liberal Arts (Great Books Program)
Jackson Green was raised in central Pennsylvania, and graduated from St. John’s College in Annapolis, Maryland. There he studied the ‘Great Books’ in a comprehensive, discussion-based program covering the most important works of literature, mathematics, philosophy, history, theology, and laboratory science in the Western tradition. In his academic and extracurricular life, he has tended toward theological pursuits: at St. John’s he served as head of both the ecumenical Christian Fellowship and Catholic Student Fellowship, and wrote his senior essay on the radical depiction of love in Augustine’s Confessions.
Additionally, Jackson has organized extra-curricular reading groups on the writings of C. S. Lewis and Augustine; he served in the St. John’s College student government; he participated regularly in intramural sports; he has frequently sung with choirs and small vocal groups; and he enjoys swing and contra dancing.
After completing the John Jay Fellowship, Jackson intends to work to further classical education, an endeavor bolstered by his personal experience and appreciation for his liberal education.
