Caleb Green

Spring 2024 John Jay Fellow

Hometown: Jackson, TN
College: Union University
Degree: B.A. Theological Studies, Minors in Philosophy and Biblical Languages

Caleb Green graduated from Union University in 2021 and completed an Advanced Master of Divinity from the Southern Baptist Theology Seminary in 2023. Caleb spent most of his childhood building forts, playing sports, and seeking to ignore anything academic. This changed after he read Cal Newport’s Deep Work and Anthony Esolen’s Out of the Ashes: Rebuilding American Culture. Before reading these books, he failed to realize books matter for the development of the person. This might seem obvious, but to a boy who grew up with his face in the mud, it was a revelation. Since then, he has fallen in love with books, questions, and conversations.

Caleb’s senior thesis at Union was entitled A Survey of Biblical Justice in Relation to Justice Found in Critical Race Theory. While in seminary, he was the president of The Libertas Society, which promotes what is True, Good, and Beautiful.

After completing the John Jay Fellowship, Caleb plans to pursue an M.A. in the U.K., researching the philosophy of leisure.
