RACHEL CULVER

Spring 2024 John Jay Fellow

Hometown: Clovis, CA
College: The Master’s University
Degree: B.A. in Political Studies

Rachel Culver comes to the John Jay Institute from Clovis, California and is a graduate of The Master’s University located in Santa Clarita, California. She graduated in December 2023 with a B.A. in Political Studies with a double emphasis in Constitutional Law and Political Theory.

Prior to completing her studies at The Master’s University, she spent her first year of college at Fresno Pacific University as a member of the Paragon Scholarship Society, a prestigious academic program devoted to training future leaders who demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence and community service. Rachel participated in monthly webinars with her Paragon cohort, served as President of a constitutional club, facilitated several academic forums, and presented at a leadership summit for local high school and college students. While at FPU, she was also introduced to philosophy and political theory, which sparked her desire to transfer to The Master’s University.

At The Master’s University, Rachel had the opportunity to serve on campus as a university tutor, an Administrative Assistant for the Accounting Department, and a representative for her major. Rachel also participated in moot court for two years where she led a team of students through legal research, brief writing, and oral advocacy. During her junior year, Rachel served as an intern for a state assembly campaign and her local congressman’s district office. In addition to these experiences, Rachel also interned for Alliance Defending Freedom and The Federalist Society.

When Rachel is not studying, reading books, or writing papers, you can find her running outdoors, hiking, lifting weights, playing the guitar, or spending time with friends and family. She also loves visiting new coffee shops and thrifting.

Rachel’s diverse educational experiences inspired her to pursue a career in law, and she is eager to continue her studies through the John Jay Institute. The John Jay Institute will serve as a means for her spiritual, intellectual, and professional growth; Rachel is excited to learn alongside and be challenged by exceptional leaders who will go on to impact their communities for the gospel. Upon graduation from the Institute, she plans to work and prepare for law school with the long-term goal of serving as an appellate litigator.
