Chloe Baker graduated summa cum laude from Christopher Newport University’s Honors Program in 2022 with a major in American studies and minors in communication studies and photography & video art. She participated in a student-led ministry focused on unifying believers on campus under the name of Jesus, and as prayer team leader, she helped lead weekly prayer meetings and plan, promote and execute worship events. Chloe worked as an A/V technician throughout her student career, supporting audiovisual production at campus events. Her role as a Junior Fellow in CNU’s Center for American Studies gave her the opportunity to work with a faculty mentor on a variety of projects including writing and editing articles, assisting with historical research, proofreading publications, photography and graphic design, and supporting events and workshops. Chloe was the 2022 recipient of the Center for American Studies’ Alexander Hamilton Award and Alexis de Tocqueville Award, and her American studies capstone paper was published in The Cupola, CNU’s student research journal.

In 2023, Chloe joined the staff of the National Defense Transportation Association in Alexandria, VA, as Project Coordinator, responsible for communications and social media, supporting NDTA chapters and committees worldwide, assisting with the planning and execution of NDTA national events, and helping to manage NDTA programs for students and young professionals.

Chloe grew up in rural southern Virginia and learned to love the outdoors, reading, art, dancing, and acting. As a current resident of the Washington, D.C. area, she enjoys being involved with her church, hosting gatherings of friends, and indoor rock-climbing.

Chloe has also enjoyed writing from an early age. She is a 2021 graduate of the World Journalism Institute and her work has been published in WORLD Magazine, Lynch’s Ferry Magazine, The Lincoln Forum Bulletin, Defense Transportation Journal, and Currents Literary Magazine. After completing the John Jay Fellowship, she hopes to continue writing and editing in her personal and professional pursuits.
